Legends & Lore: The Converse Werewolf
Crossroads of The Veil: S2 E5 - Legend & Lore: The Converse Werewolf
The dark woods of Converse just outside the city of San Antonio, Texas. In 1868, were not a cozy suburb, it was a rugged, dangerous place where nature was falling apart. A massive drought had dried up the rivers, leaving only a few muddy pools at a place called Skull’s Crossing.
This is the story of the Converse Werewolf.
Meet the Vance family. Elias was a tough-as-nails rancher, and his fifteen-year-old son, Thomas, was a quiet kid who’d rather read a book than hunt. When something started killing their animals, tearing them apart. Elias didn't believe in monsters, and he thought his son was being a coward. To "make him a man," he forced Thomas into the pitch-black woods alone with a heavy, one-shot rifle.
But what Thomas found in the sulfur-scented mud of Cibolo Creek was the stuff of nightmares. It was an eight-foot-tall beast with glowing eyes that literally cracked its own bones to stand upright.
This is the tragic tale of a father’s guilt, that is still told to this day.
But the scariest part? The sightings never stopped. Today, researchers call this area the Texas Dogman Triangle. Is it a myth, or is something still hunting in the dark creek beds while you sleep?
